Westech Aerosol Packaging Gets a MakeoverSeattle, WA - August 21, 2006

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division has developed a specially contoured ship rudder for use on DDG 1000-class destroyers. This rudder is designed to reduce cavitation, a phenomenon which causes damage to the rudder surface and additional noise and maintenance issues. A prototype built of composite materials, approximately 14 ft. across both the span and the widest portion, will be developed utilizing Westech Aerosol's InfuZene® Vacuum Infusion Enabler. The entire article can be found here.

InfuZene® is an adhesive enabler designed to hold dry materials onto structural surfaces during the infusion process. InfuZene® cross-links and hardens along with the vinyl-, polyester or styrene resins to form a completely polymerized and integrated structure. This product is available in aerosol cans and a self-contained canister system with a reusable gun and hose.
